Recently I met a man who wore a unique wedding band, three interlock bands with various colors (usually symbolizing holy trinity). This ring is known in European cultures but not in the U.S. I noticed it on his finger and mustered the courage to inquire about it. I asked if he was European and he mentioned his wife was from Ukraine but he was American. He mentioned to keep tradition, he and his wife held two weddings, one in the US and another in Russia so both countries could consider it "official" and he wears the traditional Russian/European ring. This conversation led him to also mention he'd like to adopt a child from Ukraine.
